Do you know that pumpkin is an excellent source of Vitamin A, potassium, and fiber? It tastes good and you can give it to both cats and dogs. We are talking about pumpkin purée. You can use canned pumpkin purée as long as it is not for pumpkin pie filling because those are high in sugar. Pumpkin purée helps with simple diarrhea and constipation.
Use 1-2 teaspoons for small dogs and cats, up to 3 teaspoons for larger breeds as a remedy to any simple digestive issues. It also helps cats dealing with their hairball problems. If you have a picky eater, mixing a teaspoon of pumpkin purée in your dog regular kibble will help stimulate an appetite. If you dog is experiencing weight problem, you can mix more pumpkin purée and reduce the quantity of kibble to limit calorie intake.
