I discovered Happy Dog Happy You through a post at Phetched.com and by a glance at the cover of the book I was interested to know more. Yes, I judge a book by its cover…shame on me! I browsed to Amazon.com and used their Look-inside feature to skim the content. I was hooked. However I still wanted to make sure that the purchase would be a good one so I visited the author’s web site.
Arden Moore, the author is an expert in the subject. She works as an animal behavior consultant and an in-demand speaker. She has been featured on many televisions and radio shows such as Fox News, Martha Stewart Living Radio, CNN and the list goes on. Many of her books are rated as best-sellers including Happy Dog Happy You, Happy Cat Happy You, The Dog Behavior Answer Book, The Cat Behavior Answer Book and Real Food for Dogs. I placed my order with confidence that this would be a good one.
The book is a pocket-size with color printing from the first to large page. Content is exactly what the cover describes – Quick Tips for Building a Bond with Your Furry Friend. So in my opinion, it is not a book that you are going to sit down and have a cup of tea while reading it. You will find plenty of easy to understand and practical tips, written in a paragraph up to 2 pages long. The book is comprised with 8 chapters which are: need to know facts about dog training, how to increase the relationship, create a place for your dog, good diet, health topics, dog social, travel with your dog and extra section that covers how to select a good dog sitter and other related useful topics.
With cute illustrations here and there, Happy Dog Happy You is a very pleasant book but that’s not what I like about it. What capture me the most are simply facts which we often over look. For example, while we greet a dog in the same way as greeting a baby, the book points out a proper way to do so. All in all Happy Dog Happy You is a very different kind of book that shows you lots of things that you can do to strengthen the relationship between you and your dog. Event if you only have 5 to 10 minutes, the bond can be reinforced. With a happy dog in the house, here come happy you.
